Celebrating the Success of the 18th Annual Self Storage Owners Summit 2023
Unfolding on July 13, 2023, the 18th Annual Self Storage Owners Summit, hosted by the California Self Storage Association (CSSA) and Talonvest, was a resounding success and a day to remember. With record-setting attendance of over 420 attendees, the event left us all with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the future of the self-storage industry
A Venue Like No Other
The Balboa Bay Resort, the only Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond waterfront resort in Newport Beach, provided an idyllic backdrop for our gathering. Overlooking the serene Newport Bay, this 15-acre paradise set the tone for a day of insightful discussions, networking, and learning.
Networking Breakfast
The day kicked off with a networking breakfast, hosted by Kure It, a non- profit organization dedicated to research for cancer and other life threatening diseases. The breakfast was a fantastic opportunity for attendees to connect, share ideas, and prepare for the day ahead. Chris Sonne from Newmark led an engaging discussion titled “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once,” setting the stage for the insightful sessions that followed.
Inspirational Keynote Speakers
Dr. Arthur B. Laffer, known as "The Father of Supply Side Economics," delivered an enlightening and entertaining non-industry keynote. His humorous jabs at the UCLA educational system had us all laughing, while his deep economic insights provided a valuable lesson in economics.Our industry keynote speaker, Joseph D. Russell, President & Chief Executive Officer of Public Storage, joined forces with session moderator Spenser Allaway, senior analyst on Green Street's research team and sector head of net lease, gaming, and self-storage. Their engaging presentation, complete with data-rich slides, gave us a sneak peek into Public Storage's technology ecosystem, providing a fascinating look at the intersection of technology and self-storage.
