CSSA & Talonvest are excited to announce Dr. Arthur B. Laffer as our non-industry keynote speaker.
Arthur B. Laffer is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an economic research and consulting firm. As a result of Dr. Laffer's Economic insight and influence in starting a worldwide tax cutting movement during the 1980s, many publications have named him "The Father of Supply Side Economics."
Dr. Laffer was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of his two terms (1981-1989) and was a founding member of the Reagan Executive Advisory Committee for the presidential race of 1980. He also advised Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on fiscal policy in theUK during the 1980s. In 2019, Dr. Laffer was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump.
Dr. Laffer currently sits on the board of directors or advisors of a number of private and public companies and has authored numerous books including An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of States (Wiley 2014) and the forthcoming Taxes Have Consequences: An Income Tax History of the United States, to be released by Post Hill Press in September 2022.

Joe Russell is President & Chief Executive Officer of Public Storage, the world's leading owner, operator and developer of self-storage facilities. Mr. Russell is also a trustee on the Public Storage's Board of Trustees.
Previously, Mr. Russell was president and Chief Executive Officer of PS Business Parks, Inc. (previously listed on the NYSE), a REIT that acquired, developed, owned, and operated commercial properties, from August 2002 until July 2016. Mr. Russell served on the Board of directors of PS Business Parks from August 2003 until the company's sale to affiliates of Blackstone Real Estate in 2022.
Mr. Russell holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the board of Governors of NAREIT.
