Covid is only the latest in number of other disasters self storage businesses have faced here in California – fires, floods, power outages, pandemics, earthquakes, etc. Good business practice is to anticipate these disasters and have emergency plans to mitigate the impact on the business. This one-hour session will cover the following items:

Presenter: Dave Doget, SKS Management LLC – Dave has 11 years of property management experience and 23 years retail management experience.  At SKS Mr. Doget started as a facility manager before being promoted to district manager with the additional responsibility of overseeing the company’s revenue management program, including internet market analysis for pricing recommendations for all properties and for assisting with operational variance reports. Other responsibilities include conducting facility audits, reviewing auction files, tech support, insurance & OSHA compliance, and is the administrator for multiple software programs.

Presenter:  Mike Gong, Arthur J. Gallagher – Mike is the National Self Storage Practice Leader for Gallagher Insurance & Risk Management Services. He has been an insurance broker and risk consultant to the self storage industry throughout the country for over 18 years. Mike specializes in providing advice and consultation on insurance coverage placement & program structure, contractual risk transfer, emergency planning and claims advocacy for self storage operators and owners. He is a current board member of the CSSA and former board member of the Self Storage Association (SSA). Being involved in industry associations has provided Mike the opportunity to continually focus on legal, risk and exposure challenges faced by the self storage industry today and beyond.
